Finca Aquiares is located on the fertile slopes of the Turrialba volcano and, with over 1,800 inhabitants, is the largest coffee farm in Costa Rica. Founded in 1890, it was transformed into a model project for sustainable agriculture and social responsibility by Alfonso Robelo in the 1980s. Today, his son Diego manages the farm, focusing on specialty coffee, ecological innovation, and research.
The farm is CO₂-neutral, protects biological corridors and collaborates with international research projects on biodiversity and agroforestry.
This Red Honey preparation comes from the hybrid variety Centroamericano H1 – a cross between Sarchimor T-5296 and Rume Sudan. It combines high yields, resistance to coffee rust, and an elegant, complex cup profile. The Red Honey process leaves the sweet pulp (mucilage) on the bean during drying, resulting in sweet, layered aromas.
