This coffee was produced by smallholder farmers in the Raro Boda kebele, part of the Uraga woreda, located in the Guji region. The ripe cherries were delivered by the growers to the on-site washing station. Local farmers cultivate landraces and locally selected varieties. The cherries are harvested by hand before being delivered to the washing station. This coffee has been traditionally processed as a natural coffee.

Guji is an area in the Oromia Region of southern Ethiopia. Most of the inhabitants of this region are Oromo and speak the Oromo language, which is completely different from Ethiopia's main language, Amharic. As in many coffee-growing regions of the country, the culture in the Guji zone varies from woreda (district) to woreda, reflecting the diversity of the coffee-growing people.
