How To V60 - our barista recipe for delicious filter coffee

The V60 pour-over method, originally developed in Japan by the manufacturer Hario in 2005, is not only popular among coffee professionals, it is also ideal for daily coffee preparation in the home.
The equipment is within an acceptable price range, is easy to handle, and allows you to produce consistent results, even if you're not a barista. We'll share our basic recipe with you, which guarantees you'll always get a perfect V60 filter coffee.
In addition to the V60 and the appropriate filters, you need a scale, ideally with a timer, and a kettle with a gooseneck, and then you're ready to go.
The basic recipe for filter coffee with the V60
Coffee: 16g
Grinding degree: Medium
Water: 230g, approx. 93°
Brewing time: 3 min
- Heat 230g of water to 93 degrees.
- Fold the edge of the filter, place it in the filter holder, and place it on your pot. Rinse the paper filter with some hot water. This will prevent the paper flavor from transferring to the coffee later.
- Remove the V60 from the jug, empty the water from the jug and put the V60 back on.
- Now add 16 grams of medium ground coffee evenly into the filter to create a flat bed of coffee.
- Place your pot and filter on a scale with a timer. Start the timer and moisten the coffee with approximately 50g of 93-degree water for 30 seconds. Pour slowly and evenly.
- Now let the coffee "bloom." This refers to the coffee's blooming, which is indicated by the formation of bubbles when the coffee comes into contact with hot water.
- Now it's time for your second infusion. This time, pour about 60g of hot water over the coffee in even motions for 45 seconds.
- Once this has run through, repeat the process for the third infusion. Be careful not to wait too long, as the coffee bed must never dry out.
- Repeat the process a fourth time. Your water is now used up.
- Once your coffee has completely run through, you can serve.
Your coffee from the V60 is ready.
